The Director

Shon Hi Shon here! Welcome to the Directors page.

As a director I am involved in many aspects of the production.

I find a good idea and with the actors improvise scenes and characters until we have a finished script and a play suitable for a performance.

I run drama workshops to meet lots of different actors so that I can create acting teams for each play.

I direct the rehearsals working with the actors to find the best way to play each scene.

I work closely with the designer and help make important decisions on how the set and costumes will look. I also help create the lighting and sound we use with the lighting designer and the musical director.

You have already learned about the Design department and over the next few weeks you will learn about play writing and performance. Just remember that a director is involved in all of these things.

Shon's Challenge

Shon Hi everyone, Shon here again with a challenge.

Every play needs a setting. So I'd like you to choose the place where you want to set your WebPlay. Think about what you've learned this week, why is your partner area special. Is it the buildings? Is it the landscape? Is it the tourist attractions? You decide! Consider your research carefully before making your decision.

Good Luck
